Bitcoin Holds Near $80K Ahead of Fed Decision as ETF Demand Returns

Bitcoin is trading near the $80,000 level as investors prepare for another important Federal Reserve decision and reassess institutional demand through spot Bitcoin ETFs.

BTC has recovered sharply from its mid-year weakness, but the market is now approaching a zone where macroeconomic expectations, ETF flows and technical resistance could determine the next major move.

Bitcoin Holds Near $80,000

Bitcoin traded around $80,000 on October 26, while broader crypto sentiment remained cautious amid geopolitical risk and uncertainty around US monetary policy.

The $80,000 area has become an important short-term level after Bitcoin recovered from lows seen earlier in 2026.

CryptoDaily’s technical analysis also highlights $80,300 as a key resistance level, followed by $81,300 and $82,780. A sustained break above those levels could improve the bullish structure.

The Fed Is the Next Major Catalyst

The Federal Reserve meets on October 27–28.

Markets are closely watching whether policymakers keep rates unchanged and how they describe the outlook for inflation and future rate moves.

Bitcoin has become increasingly sensitive to changes in interest-rate expectations.

Higher yields generally make risk assets less attractive, while a more supportive monetary-policy outlook can improve liquidity conditions for crypto markets.

That makes the Fed’s guidance potentially more important than the headline rate decision itself.

ETF Demand Is Back in Focus

Institutional demand remains another key part of the Bitcoin outlook.

US-listed spot Bitcoin ETFs turned positive for 2026 in September after roughly $4.6 billion of inflows since August 19, helping reverse much of the weakness seen earlier in the year.

Bitcoin also recovered strongly during that period, moving above $86,000 in September.

More recently, ETF flows have become mixed again, making institutional positioning one of the most important signals for traders.

CoinDesk reported that Bitcoin recently attracted the strongest ETF inflows in a month before equity-market weakness again raised concerns about demand.

Why $80K Matters

The current price zone is technically significant.

Bitcoin has struggled to establish a decisive breakout above the low-$80,000 range.

If BTC converts $80,300 into support, the next resistance areas around $81,300 and $82,780 could come into focus.

A stronger breakout could reopen the path toward the $90,000 region.

On the downside, CryptoDaily identifies $75,600 as an important support level. A break below that area could increase the risk of another move toward $70,000.

Institutional Sentiment Has Improved

Wall Street’s Bitcoin outlook has also become more constructive.

Citigroup raised its 12-month Bitcoin target to $113,000 earlier in October, citing stronger crypto activity, improving macro conditions and a recovery in ETF inflows.

That forecast does not guarantee further gains, but it shows how institutional sentiment has improved compared with the first half of 2026.

Earlier in July, Citi had cut its target to $82,000 because of negative ETF flows and weaker investor appetite.

The shift highlights how quickly the Bitcoin outlook can change when capital flows return.

What Could Move Bitcoin Next?

Three factors matter most now:

  • Federal Reserve guidance: A more hawkish message could pressure Bitcoin and other risk assets.

  • Spot Bitcoin ETF flows: Sustained inflows would support the institutional-demand narrative.

  • Technical resistance: Bitcoin needs to break decisively above the $80,000–$83,000 area to strengthen the bullish case.

Bitcoin remains in a stronger position than it was earlier in 2026, but the market is approaching another important decision point.

A successful breakout above resistance, combined with improving ETF demand and a supportive macro backdrop, could give bulls another attempt at the $90,000 region.

Failure to hold current levels would keep the focus on lower support near $75,600.
