LayerZero Reclaims $2: The ZRO Technical Setup Behind a Possible $2.30 Retest

At 01:58 UTC on October 12, LayerZero’s ZRO token traded near $2.099, above $2 after a volatile period. The price indicators retained a broadly constructive tilt, but momentum was mixed.

On October 8, LayerZero announced Bridge Sentinel, a Blockaid-powered security-focused DVN designed to screen cross-chain messages using real-time threat intelligence.

The nearer market test is an estimated 23.63 million ZRO scheduled to unlock to core contributors and strategic partners on October 20, according to DeFiLlama. ZRO must clear nearby resistance for a retest of the recent $2.30 high area to become a credible technical scenario, while the unlock adds near-term supply pressure.

ZRO’s Daily Trend Is Bullish, but MACD Has Softened

The daily chart presents a favourable trend structure. ZRO stood above its 14-day simple moving average of $1.98, while the 50-day SMA at $1.39 remained above the 200-day SMA at $1.24. That 50-over-200 arrangement is described as a golden-cross structure by Blockspot, and it places the latest price well above those longer-term trend references.

Daily RSI (14) was 67.4, a bullish reading that approaches overbought territory but has not reached an extreme on the supplied data. On the four-hour chart, RSI was 57.5, also bullish and indicative of positive short-term momentum without an overbought signal, according to Coinotag.

The qualification lies with the daily MACD. Its line was 0.2226 against a 0.2258 signal line, leaving it marginally below the signal and producing a bearish reading. The gap is narrow, rather than evidence of a major trend reversal, but it means the price recovery has not received full momentum confirmation.

That split is important for the LayerZero ZRO price prediction. Buyers have reclaimed $2 and remain supported by the moving-average and RSI picture, yet the MACD reading leaves room for consolidation or a pullback before the market challenges higher resistance. A sustained advance would be more convincing if price strength is accompanied by an improvement in that momentum signal; the available readings do not establish that improvement yet.

ZRO Support at $2.0522 and the Barriers Before $2.30

At $2.099, the closest technical markers are tightly clustered around spot. The nearest daily support is $2.0522, while $2.1538 is the first daily resistance. Those levels frame the initial range that traders would need to resolve before treating the move as either a more durable recovery or a failed reclaim of $2.

On the upside, a close above $2.1538 would strengthen the bullish case. From there, $2.276 stands between the move and the $2.30 recent-high area, which Crypto.news cited as a recent daily high area during ZRO’s October advance. Clearing both nearer barriers would offer a more coherent route to a retest than a single-session spike.

Conversely, failure to retain $2.0522 would weaken the current bullish setup. The first lower support is $1.94, identified as four-hour Supertrend support during the recent advance, followed by the daily pivot levels at $1.9184 and $1.7929. A break through support would not by itself settle the broader trend, given the much lower moving averages, but it would invalidate the immediate premise that ZRO has firmly reclaimed $2.

Should ZRO move beyond the $2.30 high area, $2.3992 is the next supplied daily pivot resistance. That level is relevant only after the nearer resistance sequence has been cleared; it should not be treated as a base-case destination while spot remains below $2.1538.

Can LayerZero Retest $2.30 Before the October 20 Unlock?

ZRO has a possible, but unconfirmed, path to retest $2.30 before the October 20 unlock. The constructive setup includes price above the $1.98 14-day SMA, bullish daily and four-hour RSI readings, and the reclaim of $2. LayerZero has also outlined a potential demand mechanism: its published policy says Stargate revenue is used for open-market ZRO purchases, while excess Stargate OFT transfer-fee revenue would fund ZRO buybacks. The policy framework does not show a specific current purchase volume or an immediate price effect.

The key levels are $2.0522, $2.1538 and $2.276. Holding above $2.0522 and closing above $2.1538 would provide initial confirmation, while a break of $2.276 would make the $2.30 recent-high area more credible. The daily MACD remains marginally bearish. If $2.0522 fails, the next levels are $1.94 and $1.9184, which would weaken the case for a prompt retest.

DeFiLlama lists an expected October 20 release of approximately 23.63 million ZRO to core contributors and strategic partners, a near-term supply overhang. The outlook is cautiously constructive: ZRO must convert $2.1538 and $2.276 into support for a $2.30 retest to be technically supported, with little room for a momentum lapse ahead of the unlock.
