Mesh and Visa Partner to Let Crypto Balances Be Spent Across 175 Million Merchants

Mesh announced a strategic partnership with Visa on October 19, 2026, allowing users of participating wallets to spend crypto and stablecoin balances at merchants that accept Visa.

Visa said its network covers more than 175 million merchant locations across over 200 countries and territories, according to Visa.

The arrangement is designed to support in-store and online payments without requiring users to transfer funds to a bank account, load a card in advance or manually exchange assets before purchasing, Mesh said. The companies had not disclosed the initial participating wallets, supported devices or rollout dates when the partnership was announced, so its potential network reach was not a confirmation of an immediate launch across all Visa merchants or wallets.

Mesh’s wallet layer is designed to fund Visa payments from crypto balances

Cointelegraph reported that Visa credentials are intended to be provisioned through participating wallet applications, with merchants continuing to use their existing checkout infrastructure.

In the proposed design, Mesh handles transaction funding and conversion among crypto, stablecoins and fiat. Participating wallet applications remain the user-facing access point, so the funding and conversion process occurs behind the payment flow.

Mesh said the planned integration would let users pay without separately transferring funds, preloading a card or manually converting assets before each purchase. The arrangement therefore does not describe a new crypto-specific point-of-sale system for merchants; the payment would be presented through Visa credentials while Mesh manages the relevant balances.

Visa’s 175 million locations supply the distribution, not an immediate wallet launch

The headline figure attached to the partnership comes from Visa’s existing network footprint. Visa says its network reaches more than 175 million merchant locations in more than 200 countries and territories. Mesh’s announcement says participating wallets could use that acceptance footprint for crypto and stablecoin spending.

But network coverage is not the same as confirmation that every wallet user can begin spending immediately. Neither company identified the wallets that will participate first, the devices that will be supported, or the timetable for availability at the time of disclosure. Those details will determine which consumers can use the arrangement and when.

The wording of the announcement also places the wallet at the centre of distribution. Users would need access through a participating wallet application in order for Visa credentials to be provisioned under the model described. Visa acceptance at a merchant is therefore only one part of the planned payment path.

For now, the partnership establishes the intended operating structure: Visa provides the merchant acceptance network, wallet applications provide the credential layer, and Mesh manages funding and conversion across crypto, stablecoins and fiat. The outstanding product details leave the scale and timing of consumer access unresolved.

What Mesh and Visa have announced

Mesh framed the agreement as a way to let participating wallet users spend digital-asset balances without first routing money through a bank account or preparing a prepaid balance. The model is intended for both physical retail payments and online checkout, with merchants retaining their existing systems.

The announcement does not name the first wallet partners or specify a launch schedule. Until those integrations are identified, Visa’s 175 million-location network remains the available distribution footprint behind the proposal rather than a measure of confirmed user access.
