Russia Admits Sber and VTB to Digital Depository Register and Adds Crypto Exchanges

The Bank of Russia has updated two financial-market registers, adding Sberbank, VTB and three other companies as digital depositories while separately listing VTB among organisations permitted to exchange cryptocurrencies. The central bank's admissions page published the updates on 7 October, with both registers dated 6 October.

VTB is the only company named in both updates. It has also set out expected November and December launch windows for digital-currency trading services, according to Interfax.

Sber, VTB and three firms enter the digital depository register

The Bank of Russia's digital depository register shows that Sberbank, VTB, Voltari, Cloud Infrastructure and Atomyze were entered on 6 October.

The changes were reflected alongside the cryptocurrency-exchange register on the central bank's financial-market admission page, which listed both updated documents on 7 October. The register entries are the latest confirmed regulatory milestone for the five digital-depository entities.

VTB, Zefir, Sistema Crypto and T-Invest Lab join crypto register

On 6 October, the Bank of Russia’s register of organisations exchanging digital currencies listed VTB, Zefir, Sistema Crypto and T-Invest Lab.

The digital-depository update listed Sberbank, VTB, Voltari, Cloud Infrastructure and Atomyze. None of the four organisations listed in the cryptocurrency-exchange entry other than VTB appeared in that update.

VTB was thus included in both the digital-depository and cryptocurrency-exchange registers.

VTB sets November and December trading launches

VTB expects to make digital-currency trading available through VTB My Investments in November 2026, followed by trading through its own crypto exchange in December 2026, Interfax reported on 6 October.

For non-qualified investors, VTB said access would be restricted to Bitcoin, Ether and USDT. Those investors would face an annual limit of 300,000 rubles per intermediary.
