Securitize and Socios Plan Tokenized Equity Stakes in Pro Sports Teams

Securitize and Socios.com announced on September 2, 2026 a strategic partnership to develop regulated tokenized-equity offerings for minority interests in professional sports teams under the Socios Equity Token brand.

The project describes a potential regulated route into sports-team minority ownership, not a launched investable token: the companies said the tokens remain under development and are not available for purchase or investment, while any future offering remains subject to securities laws, league requirements, club approvals and regulatory authorizations.

Issuance and fan-engagement roles

The two companies intend to divide the operating responsibilities between the sports-facing and regulated-securities sides of the project. Socios.com will lead sports-industry relationships and the fan-engagement layer, according to the announcement.

Securitize will handle regulated securities issuance, investor onboarding, ownership records, transfer controls and ongoing servicing, placing it at the centre of the proposed ownership and compliance framework. Socios.com will supply its sports-industry relationships and fan platform.

The structure is aimed at offerings tied to minority interests in professional teams, not the fan tokens associated with Socios.com’s existing engagement model. The companies have not identified teams, clubs or individual offerings in the announcement.

European DLT Pilot Regime venue

The initiative is expected to be the first tokenization project launched through Securitize’s fully authorized European Trading & Settlement System under the EU DLT Pilot Regime, Socios.com said.

That proposed venue would provide the market infrastructure for issuing and handling the tokenized interests if offerings proceed. The announcement does not specify a launch date, jurisdictions for prospective investors, or the terms of any future stake sales.

Approvals before any offering

No Socios Equity Tokens are currently available for sale or investment, and the Sept. 2 announcement does not establish that a club stake will be tokenized or offered to investors.

The companies described a planned framework in which any individual offering would require further permissions before issuance and would remain subject to applicable securities laws, league requirements, club approvals and regulatory authorizations.
